Pete Frostic is one of the leading mandolin players in the acoustic music world today. He has toured the country playing theaters, clubs, and festivals such as the Newport Folk Festival and Merlefest. He has placed in the top three of many mandolin contests and is thought by many to be one of the more creative mandolin players. As a founding member of Old School Freight Train, he has performed on stage or recorded with David Grisman, Sam Bush, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Casey Driessen, Josh Ritter, and many other fine musicians. His unique style of playing is a blend of bluegrass, jazz, blues, Celtic, and Brazilian. His ability to teach and communicate well has earned him positions on the music faculty at the University of Virginia and The College of William and Mary.
