Tommy Rodriguez # 189 Stratocaster® Replica
Strat lovers rejoice! Tom Rodriguez humbly presents his interpretation of the classic Pre-CBS Stratocaster with Rodriguez # 189. The first thing you’ll notice is this guitar is made of a pairing of two seemingly unlikely tonewoods: Korina and Hickory. Usually associated with Gibson guitars, Korina has been compared to mahogany for it’s warmth and transparency. But amazingly, it can sound absolutely “Stratty” when paired with a neck of antique Hickory. Tom spared no expense on this guitar, even drawing from his personal stash of Brazilian Rosewood to use for the fingerboard. Using a genuine ‘62 Strat as the template, Tom faithfully recreated the exact deep contours of the famous Pre-CBS Strats that became the stuff of legend. To further enhance the mystique you’ll find an ultra-thin three tone Sunburst of McFadden’s nitrocellulose lacquer. Tom made sure we were aware that the three colors used in this unique burst were actually original custom Fender colors from the early 60’s! But Fender never sprayed a burst with this color combination. The result is simply stunning. And if the beauty of this guitar doesn’t knock you over, check out the video clips below to really hear what this machine will do. Virtual Woodshed’s Brian Williams coaxes a variety of sounds out of this beast: everything from ultra clean “Tele-esque” tones (thanks to the Fralin Blender Pot) to full throttle, Vibe drenched Hendrix overdrive. If you’ve been searching for a unique Strat to add to your collection, your search ends here.
